My WHY

My ‘why’ statement is simple:  I began studying about health in high school because I realized how much food, exercise, and overall healthy behaviors affected my mindset and happiness.  I saw so many family members struggling with health issues due to poor lifestyle choices, and I knew there was a better way.  I became obsessed with learning as much as I could about health, the human body, lifestyle and behavior.  I have always wanted to help others in their health journey in some way and when I graduated from the U in 2019, I knew I wanted to be a health coach.  In 2019-2020, when the pandemic hit the world, I realized quickly how profoundly important it was to have healthy lifestyle behaviors in place to protect and strengthen our immune systems and help calm inflammation caused by chronic stress.  We cannot stop ourselves from becoming ill, but we can do so much to help give our bodies a fighting chance to stay strong through illness and injury.  I have overcome so many of my own health complications from depression, anxiety, skin cancer, shingles, chronic EBV, meningitis, and a DVT and rib removal.  I have learned, first hand, the power of maintaining consistent lifestyle behaviors that support my mind, spirit, and body so I’ve been strong enough to fight and heal through these difficult medical challenges.  When I learned about certification through IIN in early 2021, I knew it was the right path for me.  I have found a passion and purpose in helping others through coaching.  Everyone needs a cheerleader and support as we go through our tough times in life and I am honored to help others remember their worth.

ALL ABOUT ME

Hi Friends!  let me tell you a little bit more about me.  I love kale, cinnamon rolls, laughter, sarcasm, a clean home, music, singing, goofy dancing, embarrassing my kids, holding my husbands hand, nature, sugar cookies, animals, pizza, green tea, salads, and chewy chocolate chip cookies.  I love to be adventurous by challenging myself to face my biggest fears.  I am terrified of heights so I go skydiving, hang gliding, bungee jumping and high hikes.  I am claustrophobic so I test my fear by going suba diving, and hiking/snorkeling in caves, and riding roller coasters with tight-fitting restraints.  I feel that by incorporating certain fear-testing, supportive techniques such as just 'going for it' despite the fear, meditation, breathing techniques, and careful evaluation of perceived vs actual mental barriers, we can overcome so much of what scares us.  Facing the fear in our health journey can feel overwhelming and daunting, but it is much better with a coach by your side!  I have always had a passion for health and health education and love helping others find ways to love themselves and honor their bodies, minds, and spirits.  Health is not a destination, it's a lifelong journey that you can actually ENJOY!

I am a Mother to 3 beautiful children and have been married for 21 years to my sweetheart, Reed.  My family is my number one priority and I love helping my family thrive through a healthy lifestyle.

As a mother, I have learned so much about setting an example of daily healthy habits for my children.  Exercise, vegetables, water, and mental health support are normal, healthy conversations and a way of life for my family.  As we have faced illness, injury, sports, busy lifestyles, stress, mental health challenges, and much more, we have all learned to go back to basics and focus on the things that help set us back on track when life gets crazy

In college, I had plans to go to medical school to study to become a Neonatologist and was so excited to follow down that path.   I was fascinated with my human anatomy and physiology courses, cadaver labs, and medical terminology courses.  I thrived on learning all about becoming a first responder and helping others in times of crisis.  In 1999, I learned about a new program in college, Health Promotion & Education and knew I needed to switch degrees to follow that path.  I’m so grateful I followed my intuition and heart.  I am right where I need to be to best help others with my love for health and wellness.

I received my Bachelors of Science from the University of Utah in Health Promotion & Education and registered as a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach from IIN in NYC.  I really focus on the areas of gut and hormone health to educate, and coach my clients and others on the critical role of gut and hormone health on our overall well being. I have struggled with a myriad of health issues throughout my life from depression & anxiety to thyroid & hormone dysfunction.  Through proper medical channels, comprehensive blood work, self-awareness, lifestyle and behavior modifications, I have been able to heal my body and thrive. Health, wellness lifestyle, and health education through coaching and teaching is my passion and purpose.
